she/her/hers
Past President, Massachusetts Library Association
Joanne Lamothe is the Director of the Sandwich Public Library. This year she managed to retain her sanity through COVID, a move to a temporary facility, and a major renovation of the Sandwich Public Library. She began her library career after a stint in banking with a part-time position in Technical Services at the Duxbury Free Library, where she typed millions of Library of Congress catalog cards. She moved up through the ranks, eventually being appointed Director during the construction of the new library. Following Duxbury, she became the Director of the Weymouth Public Libraries. She has served as the President of the New England Library Association and the Old Colony Library Network. Joanne holds a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Rhode Island. She is also the administrator of the Glass Town Cultural District in Sandwich.
